Benchmark is a residential co-educational emotional growth school dedicated to assisting troubled young adults as well as unmotivated teens who are between 18 - 28 years of age. Students are generally average to bright young people who are capable of success, but are either resistant to or apprehensive of change.

A School for Students in Transition
We understand that the process of growing up extends beyond the teenage years. For this reason, Benchmark Young Adult School provides life skills to late stage unmotivated teens and troubled young adults who are between 18 – 28 years of age. We reach far beyond the typical unmotivated teen and angst-ridden youth, connecting with the "twenty-something” generation of troubled young adults who can’t quite make it on their own; those who are continually re-bounding back to their parents and for others, who still require assistance to become self-sufficient. Many students had past struggles with drugs and alcohol, so we offer a Sober Living Environment to support their further development. Many people who have these type struggles in the past use the school as a Substance Abuse Aftercare Program.
With guidance from IFC Certified Life Coaches, we help students find their emotional footing, gain practical life skills, discover healthy relationships, implement their educational goals and provide the foundation needed to stay the course as they achieve their objectives. So, why choose Benchmark? Since 1993, Benchmark has been a leader in the industry of emotional growth schools and programs for troubled young adults. Our caring and experienced Life Coaching staff assists each student as they learn to manage their emotional growth, education and independent living curriculum. We offer therapeutic consultants based upon individual needs.
In addition, we provide a unique and specialized Parent Coaching curriculum, to assist families as they adjust to our process. We help parents find new and improved parenting techniques that are specific to communicating with unmotivated teens and young adults in a school such as Benchmark.
Successful Curriculum
Our curriculum consists of four consecutive and straightforward phases. Each phase of our comprehensive curriculum is designed to address the student’s emotional, educational and autonomous issues, and prepare them to transform their negative behaviors into a new reality of healthy and productive living.
During each phase, Benchmark will assess each student’s motivation, time management and progress of their emotional growth and maturity. At the conclusion of each phase, students may choose to graduate, strategize their exit plan and move on.
OR, they may continue into the subsequent phase, providing them with additional resources to become successful. For many students, the chance for success increases with longer a commitment, combined with their ability to pass the test of time.
Bronze Phase – Preparation Phase, six months*
Silver Phase – Practical Application Phase, three months*
Gold Phase – Independent Living Phase, three months*
Graduate Program – Final Achievement Phase, month-to-month
