Parent Coaching & Support
Despite their best efforts and intentions, families who seek to place their adult child in our school have come to the realization that assistance is vitally necessary. We strongly believe that with support and an abundant supply of “tough love” from parents, family and friends, students are more likely to successfully complete the program. In turn, they will reach their own level of independence and the rewards associated with that process.
To bridge this transition, Benchmark provides, at no additional cost, a five-part series of Parent Coaching calls to parents of newly enrolled students. The coaching calls are designed to support parents as they adjust to Benchmark’s curriculum of emotional growth, education, work skills and independent living.
The Parent Coaching calls are facilitated by a Next Step for Success® Parent Coach, who is sanctioned by the International Coach Federation (IFC). Each of the five parent coaching calls has a focused topic to address issues such as shifting parenting techniques to gaining confidence in their communications with their young adult in program. It is our goal to provide both the student and the family with all the tools necessary to make transitioning into adulthood a successful reality.
In addition to providing support, the parent coaching calls also prepare parents to attend Benchmark’s Parent Seminar, a two-day parent outreach program, during which time parents learn parenting techniques specific to communicating with young adults and gain further insight into the Benchmark Young Adult School curriculum.
Finally, as students bring closure to their adolescence and emerge into adulthood through their process at Benchmark, family relationships are positively enhanced. Whether your child needs a Sober Living Environment, or a Substance Abuse Aftercare Program, or they just need to grow up, we can provide the neccessary emotional growth and the structure. And we keep you, the parent, involved every step of the way.
